About the Band - Aldbourne Band is a long established Brass Band based in Aldbourne near Marlborough - Wiltshire, originally formed in 1860 by the church organist. The Band's competing history goes back before the First World War and during the 1920's and 30's achieved great acclaim performing at the Crystal Palace in London. In 1981 the Band won the West of England Championships and competed at the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall as well as representing the area on BBC 2's "Best of Brass". Currently the Band is enjoying back to back wins in Torquay and Blackpool.
The Band presents 14 concerts and takes part in several contests each year, essential in maintaining very high musical standards. Many of the concerts are now long established events - for example our summer season of open air concerts in Aldbourne - Wiltshire. Aldbourne Band - the current First Section National Champions played a festive selection of music to a packed audience in St Michael’s church on Sunday evening.
Aldbourne Band ends the year on a high after being awarded second place in the Open Section at the 65th Annual Championships of the South West Brass Band Association. The contest was held on 5th November at the Riviera Centre with 37 bands attending. The Open section had bands competing from both First and Championship levels.
